5 simple ways to encourage your child

Children are at an age where they need lots of love and encouragement to grow up into healthy young adults. You need to encourage them to develop their own thoughts and opinions. So here are a few ways you could use to encourage your children.

One of the first few things you could do is acknowledge their efforts. Most of the time, when we give our children household responsibilities we always forget to let them know that they have done a great job in it. If they didn’t perform their task very well, don’t go straight for the negative criticism. Tell them that they did put in a good effort and give a suggestion in a positive manner. A suggestion given in a kind tone will be taken more positively by your child.

Secondly, when they have done something great, remember to thank them. This is positive reinforcement and will make them proud of the good things that have done. In addition, you are also cultivating good manners in your children by being a good role model yourself.

Next, remember not to brush off their problem aside. How often when your children come home complaining about something, you just brush them off by saying that it is nothing? This would make your children feel that their problems are of a trivial matter and not worth their parent’s time. Next time, your children would not bother coming to you with their problem and they will try and suffer their problem in silence. Instead try listening to what your children has to say and be supportive of them.

Furthermore, remember to tell always show your love to your children. Tell them that you love them all the time. Give them a hug or a good night kiss before they sleep at night. You would want to encourage your child to grow up to be loving, healthy adults. If you hardly express your feelings to them, your children may grow up being cold and unemotional adults unable to express their feelings. Your love will provide them the encouragement they need when they are sad or feeling discouraged.

Lastly, remember to encourage your child’s imaginative side by having fun. Have activities together with them and let their imagination take charge so your adults will grow into fun loving adults. So what are you waiting for, don’t wait till tomorrow to start encouraging your kids. Start now!

sleep during infancy and childhood

The bed on which the child now sleeps should be a mattress: at this age a feather bed is always injurious to children; for the body, sinking deep into the bed, is completely buried in feathers, and the unnatural degree of warmth thus produced relaxes and weakens the system, particularly the skin, and renders the child unusually susceptible to the impressions of cold. Then, instead of the bed being made up in the morning as soon as vacated, and while still saturated with the nocturnal exhalations from the body, the bed-clothes should be thrown over the backs of chairs, the mattress shaken well up, and the window thrown open for several hours, so that the apartment shall be thoroughly ventilated. It is also indispensably requisite not to allow the child to sleep with persons in bad health, or who are far advanced in life; if possible, it should sleep alone.

During infancy.
---------------

For three or four weeks after birth the infant sleeps more or less, day and night, only waking to satisfy the demands of hunger; at the expiration of this time, however, each interval of wakefulness grows longer, so that it sleeps less frequently, but for longer periods at a time.

This disposition to repose in the early weeks of the infant's life must not be interfered with; but this period having expired, great care is necessary to induce regularity in its hours of sleep, otherwise too much will be taken in the day-time, and restless and disturbed nights will follow. The child should be brought into the habit of sleeping in the middle of the day, before its dinner, and for about two hours, more or less. If put to rest at a later period of the day, it will invariably cause a bad night.

At first the infant should sleep with its parent. The low temperature of its body, and its small power of generating heat, render this necessary. If it should happen, however, that the child has disturbed and restless nights, it must immediately be removed to the bed and care of another female, to be brought to its mother at an early hour in the morning, for the purpose of being nursed. This is necessary for the preservation of the mother's health, which through sleepless nights would of course be soon deranged, and the infant would also suffer from the influence which such deranged health would have upon the milk.

When a month or six weeks has elapsed, the child, if healthy, may sleep alone in a cradle or cot, care being taken that it has a sufficiency of clothing, that the room in which it is placed is sufficiently warm, viz. 60 degrees, and the position of the cot itself is not such as to be exposed to currents of cold air. It is essentially necessary to attend to these points, since the faculty of producing heat, and consequently the power of maintaining the temperature, is less during sleep than at any other time, and therefore exposure to cold is especially injurious. It is but too frequently the case that inflammation of some internal organ will occur under such circumstances, without the true source of the disease ever being suspected. Here, however, a frequent error must be guarded against, that of covering up the infant in its cot with too much clothing throwing over its face the muslin handkerchief and, last of all, drawing the drapery of the bed closely together. The object is to keep the infant sufficiently warm with pure air; it therefore ought to have free access to its mouth, and the atmosphere of the whole room should be kept sufficiently warm to allow the child to breathe it freely: in winter, therefore, there must always be a fire in the nursery.

The child up to two years old, at least, should sleep upon a feather bed, for the reasons referred to above. The pillow, however, after the sixth month, should be made of horsehair; for at this time teething commences, and it is highly important that the head should be kept cool.

During childhood.
----------------

Up to the third or fourth year the child should be permitted to sleep for an hour or so before its dinner. After this time it may gradually be discontinued; but it must be recollected, that during the whole period of childhood more sleep is required than in adult age. The child, therefore, should be put to rest every evening between seven and eight; and if it be in health it will sleep soundly until the following morning. No definite rule, however, can be laid down in reference to the number of hours of sleep to be allowed; for one will require more or less than another.Regularity as to the time of going to rest is the chief point to attend to; permit nothing to interfere with it, and then only let the child sleep without disturbance, until it awakes of its own accord on the following morning, and it will have had sufficient rest.

The amount of sleep necessary to preserve health varies according to the state of the body, and the habits of the individual. Infants pass much the greater portion of their time in sleep. Children sleep twelve or fourteen hours. The schoolboy generally ten. In youth, a third part of the twenty-four hours is spent in sleep. Whilst, in advanced age, many do not spend more than four, five, or six hours in sleep.

It is a cruel thing for a mother to sacrifice her child's health that she may indulge her own vanity, and yet how often is this done in reference to sleep. An evening party is to assemble, and the little child is kept up for hours beyond its stated time for retiring to rest, that it may be exhibited, fondled, and admired. Its usual portion of sleep is thus abridged, and, from the previous excitement, what little he does obtain, is broken and unrefreshing, and he rises on the morrow wearied and exhausted.

Once awake, it should not be permitted to lie longer in bed, but should be encouraged to arise immediately. This is the way to bring about the habit of early rising, which prevents many serious evils to which parents are not sufficiently alive, promotes both mental and corporeal health, and of all habits is said to be the most conducive to longevity.

A child should never be suddenly aroused from sleep; it excites the brain, quickens the action of the heart, and, if often repeated, serious consequences would result. The change of sleeping to waking should always be gradual.

When students and parents bully their teacher

Bullying often happens on students. A student who is a victim of bullying in a long period will suffer from mental disorder. It is not different when children and parents bully their teacher. The teacher will also feel uncomfortable and stressful. Does this case take place in your with your students? The case rarely occurs at school but bullying teacher can be easily done in social media.

Recently, most students, parents, and teachers use social media to interact. This advance technology helps teaching and learning easier. Communication between parents and teachers is also more intensive. However, another side is very destructive when many students and parents bully their schoolteacher. Report from BBC news said “School teachers have been subjected to online abuse and cyberbullying by pupils and parents, a study has found.
Research carried out by the University of Plymouth found parents were responsible for a quarter of the abuse suffered by teachers.
Nearly 400 teachers nationwide, both primary and secondary, were surveyed for Prof Andy Phippen's study.
"From the research it appears that kids can be perpetrators as well as victims," he told BBC News.
"The most shocking is the parental abuse."
'Fair game'
Researchers surveyed 377 education professionals nationwide and carried out 10 in-depth case studies.
The study revealed that 35% of respondents said that either they, or their colleagues, had been subjected to some form of online abuse.
Teachers from both primary and secondary schools had been targeted.
"It can affect teachers anywhere - from a small rural primary to a large urban secondary," Prof Phippen said. “ “

Side effects of cyber bullying on teacher are very negative. As a teacher I fell very disappointed reading the news about cyber bullying done by parents and students. Whatever reason, bullying on teachers are not tolerated. A teacher who is a victim of bullying will have some mental disorders.

- The teacher will feel unsafe in the school and classroom. This will affect the teaching performance.

- Cyber bullying will cause hatred. When the teacher identifies the one bullies , he / she can’t talk to the child gently in the classroom because there is a mental block between the student and the teacher.

“ One teacher, falsely accused on the internet of "inappropriate behaviour" with a female student, said he ended up in the care of a psychologist to help him deal with "loss of self worth, depression and the urge to commit suicide".

He was released by police without charge, caution or reprimand, but then faced a "punitive" suspension of five months.

The teacher claimed his local authority investigation was "motivated from the outset with a staunch presumption of guilt throughout".

Prof Phippen said discussions had taken place with teaching unions and the Department for Education (DfE), but many teachers would like to see more public awareness.

"These teachers who have been abused show the classic signs of bullying, including depression and feelings of isolation," he said.

"Schools should not be afraid to involve the police if they feel harassment is occurring.
"Many grass-roots teachers feel there should be far more zero tolerance from schools.”

A teacher is a human. He / she sometimes makes mistakes. Should parents and students respect all teachers? Yes, the should, because if students and parents don’t respect their school teachers, I don’t think there can be other people who are appropriate to deserve respect.

how teach your teen earn money

Some teen are qualified to earn money. They also will learn how to manage their income. Teaching them to earn their own money, how to spend it, and how to save it is a precious lecture without a doubt.

Adults today are overwhelmed, and they all need a little extra aid to get through the day. This can mean great earning potential for a newly licensed teen. If you have a teenager that is newly licensed, you will find that the sooner you assist them in finding work, the easier it will be on your pocket.

Suggest ideas with your teen to find creative ways to earn money. This will save you money, but also avoid some potentially stressful situation. Parents of teens everywhere know how stressful it is when dealing with teens and finances.

A great idea for a newly licensed teen is to have them deliver lunch to local businesses.

Working for Someone Else

Your teen should begin by preparing a resume. A resume does not necessarily have to show prior job experience. It could be something as simple as a letter showing that they are well-rounded individuals. If it shows that they have done community service and helped others, or even just have good grades, this will speak volumes to potential employers.

Have your teen prepare the letter and make copies. Then, have them go to local businesses and tell them they would like to meet and greet with the owners. Once your teen delivers the letter and lets the owner know they are hardworking, responsible, and looking to earn some money, there is a good chance that those business owners will hire them.

Working for Themselves

If your teen like to cook or bake, take some time and look into the rules and regulations of your state to see what is entailed in having them own and operate a small catering business from home. It does not have to be anything fancy. If your teen is proficient at baking, perhaps some muffins and small breakfast items would be a good start.

Check and see what licenses are necessary, as well as what type of car insurance they would need. Look into it carefully. Who knows, at the end of the day, it just may be well worth it.

Regardless of whether or not your teen decides to work for themselves or work for someone else, delivering lunch to busy adults is a great way to earn extra cash. If people are having their lunch delivered, it saves them time, which can equate too many positive things for those busy adults. They can then go ahead and make a few phone calls or just relax for a few minutes during lunch.

How to encourage your children enterprenuership

If your child comes to you and inquires about different jobs he or she could perform, you might just have the makings of a budding entrepreneur. It is important not to dismiss those budding entrepreneurial wishes, as your child may be onto something that will be a part of his or her future.

If your child comes to you and wants to find a job or start a business and you do not have the time to discuss it at the moment, make certain to let your child know that his or her idea is important. Then, set up a “meeting” to discuss possibilities.

Let Your Child Be Heard

It is important to set up a date and time where you can brainstorm together with your child. He or she may or may not have an idea as to what the new business endeavor is. That could be the beauty in the whole discussion.

Make sure you give your child free rein to come up with their own ideas. Do not discourage or dismiss any idea.

Go with the Pros and Cons

Make a list of different ideas and show your child the upside as well as the downside of any and all ideas that he or she may have. In this way, the reality of the notion of starting their own business will be available along with the dream.

Also, list what is necessary to start the new business - such as tools, materials, and even money. If money is necessary to start the new business:

* Find out where the money will come from
* Ask how he or she will earn the money to start up the new business
* Work out a plan that you will meet your child halfway for the start-up expenses

Discuss Finances at Your Child’s Level

If your child has a dream for a new business endeavor, that is wonderful news. However, the hard cold facts of finance must be discussed with your child. Support your child’s dream, but let them know that managing finances is and always will be a huge part of life.

Help them create a document on the computer that will show their start-up expenses, their monthly expenses and their materials and supplies. Discuss the possibility of donating supplies to their business for the first month or two and then possibly taking out a loan from you to proceed. Make it clear that they will have to repay the loan from the profits.

Discuss finances at your child’s level of understanding. Do not be afraid to have them sign an agreement of sorts so they will understand that integrity and commitment are part of owning and operating a successful business – even if it is a miniature business.

How to promote friendship for disable children

How To Promote Friendships Amongst Special Needs and Non-Disabled Children

Author: Amanda Clark

Promoting friendships amongst special needs and non-disabled children can be difficult, but can result in lasting relationships. One of the biggest obstacles to promoting such friendships is the social taboo of disability.

This taboo can be overcome by educating children about disabilities. Like everyone else, children are often scared of the unknown; when they are unfamiliar with children who suffer from disabilities they will be more likely to shy away from them. Educating all children, disabled and non-disabled alike, will promote tolerance and acceptance of the differences between them. This acceptance and understanding of one another will pave the way for lasting friendships.

Another issue that may need to be addressed is attention.  Disabled children often require more attention than non-disabled children, which can make non-disabled children feel left out. This feeling of isolation may lead them to act out, either by ignoring the child receiving the attention or by misbehaving to compete for the attention. If both children can participate in the activity, then it is best to include everyone, even if it is geared toward one child or another. This inclusion will help build relationships and will promote an understanding between the children.

Another important part of promoting friendships between special needs and non-disabled children is to try and treat all of the children as equally as possible. Every child is different and requires special care in one way or another, but it is important to avoid calling undue attention to these differences. By treating the children the same they will feel as though they belong to one cohesive group, rather than feeling as though they are two groups of children merged together.

Once educated, children are often forgiving of the differences in others. With the proper knowledge and the right amount of attention, all children, disabled and non-disabled alike, will be able to learn how to build lasting friendships with one another.

how to talk to your students

There is a phenomenon that all public speakers encounter when they are addressing a crowd that if you thought about it very much, it would get to you. It is a phenomenon that any teacher who is trying to impart knowledge to a room full of students will experience as well. And if you think about it very much, it will get to you too. That phenomenon happens when you are talking along and you look out at those blank faces staring up at you and you realize that a few, some or maybe all of those minds behind those faces are paying absolutely no attention to you at all.

Whether or not that drives you crazy depends on whether you consider the act of teaching complete when you speak or when the student grasps and understands what you are saying. Very often when you see a teacher speaking you know that this teacher has absolutely no concern for whether the students are getting it or not. They do not consider it their job to make sure the students understand or interact with the material. They are a delivery vehicle and if they enunciate the lecture successfully, they have successfully "taught".

But just saying words into the air whether or not they are heard or understood really isn't teaching is it? Put it in the context of a chef. If you cook a wonderful meal that is delicious, prepare it with the finest of materials and present it with perfect ambiance, is it still a delightful meal if there is nobody at the table to appreciate it and nobody eats the meal? No, you are only a chef when the patron dines on your food and appreciates every nuance of the flavor and the experience of enjoying what you have done.

That distinction is what drives teachers crazy when they feel students are not listening. To a teacher who has a passion for the real act of teaching, their job is not done until the students grasp the material and interact with it, question it and finally grasp it and make that knowledge their own. A lecture not heard, not understood, not "taught" is not teaching at all, its just talking.

Preparing to become a teacher is about more than just knowing how to design a lesson plan and how to organize a class room and make a bulletin board. Becoming a teacher means you become one of those amazing people who can take students from uninformed to informed and from unenlightened to truly "taught". When it is your calling to become that kind of teacher to just talk at students with no knowledge of whether they know what you are saying at all is absolutely unacceptable.

This means that you will have to change your teaching style. It means that you won't be satisfied with just working through a lecture. In fact, it might spell the end of the lecture as a teaching device for you entirely. To really find out if those kids are listening and interacting with the material, you will have to change your approach to an interactive teaching style. You will have to start talking to students or with students and not AT them. But once you do that, the feed back you will get and the quality of your teaching will improve so dramatically, you will never want to go back.

Why your children need after school programs

After school is not baby-sitting:

After school programs thrive only if it is backed by sufficient parental involvement. What would a soccer match be without parents cheering their little heroes from the sidelines?.

Research and choose:

Instead of convenience being the decisive factor, find out things that will interest your child. Once you select a program, get the fine print and find out what you have to contribute.

Free time:

Many children attend piano classes, followed by ballet and squeeze in some time for play dates in between just before they rush home in time for bed. This rigor is too much for a child. So, go slow.

When to quit:

Often, parents enroll their child in an activity to discover that he may not be the prodigy they thought he would be. This is the time to let go. Your child may not become the next wonder-kid. But, let him cultivate an interest that he enjoys. Remember, happiness and fulfillment are all that matter.

For many of people around the world, the day does not end with the school bell. There are still pictures to be painted, songs to be sung and games to be played. This all adds up to keeping children happy, safe and out of trouble. But, parents have to steer away from going overboard.

How to Choose a Child Care giver provider

Choosing the right child care provider is one of the most important decisions you'll ever make. Children begin to learn long before kindergarten, and the kind of child care they have prior to that can make a big difference in their academic performance. For older kids, the right child care provider is just as important during these formative years.

Here's a helpful checklist to help you choose a child care provider.

1. Space for Your Child

Is there an opening for your child? This is an important first question, whether you are contacting an individual or child care facility. There's no use wasting time on other queries if they are not taking any new children.

2. Adult to Child Ratio

What is the ratio of adults to children? If you're going with a home-based caregiver, find out if he/she has children at home as well. If it's a family of six kids, adding more children can push the ratio out of balance. The same is true for a commercial facility. A rough guideline is this: there should be 1 adult for every:

* 4 newborns

* 5 infants from 6 weeks to 18 months

* 8 preschoolers

* 10 children aged 5 to 9

* 20 children aged 10 to 12

Again, this is a rough guideline. Your local regulations may differ, and your personal requirements may be different also.

3. Find Out about Violations and Complaints

Contact your local child care information agency regarding a provider's record of complaints and/or violations. If there are some complaints, it pays to do your research - there might be violations in the past that are no longer an issue, for example, or that have gotten worse instead.

4. Do an Internet Search for Reviews

When you have several names of providers, type them into your search engine with the word "reviews." This can yield a lot of information.

5. Food

Small children need to eat frequently, and babies do too. Ask about the food policies of the child care provider. If you demand-feed your infant, will the provider do the same? If you take a more scheduled approach, will the child care provider respect that? For older kids, you'll want to ask about the kind of food that's served and how often. Find out if there are provisions made for kids with food allergies.

6. Hours

Make sure the hours of the provider fit with yours. If there are scheduling problems or delays in pick-up times, ask about the provider's policy in case you're late or early with pick-up or drop-off.

7. Credentials and References

Ask for references and credentials. The provider should be glad to give you the contact information of individuals who have used their services. Ask about licensing, accreditation, and how long the provider has been in business.

Above all, sit down and make a list of things that are important to you and your family in choosing a child care provider. You may have specifications that are not standard, and those are still important. So having a master list helps a lot in keeping you grounded during your research.

know when your children ready to stay home alone

Is My Child Old Enough to Stay Home Alone? This is a simple question but the answer is complicated. As children grow up, parents begin to wonder if their child can stay home by themselves. After all, child care can be a lot of trouble and expense. And during the summer months, parents may really wish their child could be home alone for at least a little while.

Of course, all children are different, and some kids are ready to be left alone at a much younger age than others. Your child's maturity level, home environment, geographical location, and other factors all play into the issue. And there are also certain laws on the books about this as well. So age can be determined in a somewhat general way, but there are other considerations than your child's age.

So to answer the question of whether or not your child is old enough to stay home alone, it's important to look at various factors.

1. Your Child's Age - How Important Is It?

First, look into your local laws. You must follow those guidelines first and foremost.

And there are some obvious things in the age department that can determine how independent your child is. For example, it's never okay to leave a baby, toddler, preschooler, or kindergartener home alone, even for a few minutes. Once your child gets to gradeschool age, though, it gets to be more of a gray area.

2. How Long?

How many hours your child will be home by themselves is another key thing. Children in gradeschool - the "latchkey kids" as we came to call them - may be fine to be at home for an hour or two. But leaving a gradeschool-age child at home alone all day is not advisable. A general guideline is, the younger the child, the shorter the time home alone.

3. How Safe Is Your Neighborhood?

If you live in a high-crime area without any trusted friends or relatives nearby, then leaving your child home alone at a young age may not be a good idea at all. A quieter neighborhood with family down the street is another matter altogether. So your location has a lot to do with your decision.

4. Evaluate Your Child

In addition to age, your child's personal character traits have a lot to do with whether or not they are ready to be left alone. Here are some things to look for and ask:

* Does your child listen and take directions well? If so, he or she may be mature enough to be left alone a bit. He will need to know how to follow directions when you're not there.

* Does your child tend to panic or be anxious? High-anxiety children may not be good candidates for being home alone.

* Is he able to fix food for himself?

* How does your child feel about being home alone?

* Has your child exhibited responsible behavior in the past?

* Can he make independent decisions?

5. Evaluate Your Home

Your home will need to be safe for your child to be left alone. For example, if your home is heated by firewood and it's cold out, you'll need to make sure your child is old enough to handle that without endangering himself. Your water heater will need to be turned down to a safe level, dangerous areas need to be locked off, and your home will need to be safe enough not to pose any danger of injury.

As long as you are within your local laws, the final decision is up to you and your child. If you're not certain, try leaving your child home alone for very short periods at first, and then work up to longer times.

Children often respond really well to teenagers. They're fun, and children know that teenagers are not quite adults yet.

2. Teenagers Cost Less

It's pretty well realized that an unpracticed teenager is a considerable measure more reasonable than, say, an expert caretaker or more advanced in years grown-up with bunches of experience and monetary obligations. Generally high schoolers acquire babysitting cash as using cash or to safeguard to a specific buy or objective. They don't have the monetary commitments and obligations that grown-ups do.

Teenagers have more energy to spare than your average adult. This can come in very handy if you have multiple children or a high-energy child who loves to play.

Positive Parenting approach to end tantrum temper

Tantrum temper is an overacting mood in children. Children often scream angrily. The cause varies. As parents, you have to prepare an appropriate approach to end temper tantrum. Are you sure, you can do to overcome temper tantrum in your child? You may think that you have given many toys and taken your child on vacation. In fact, not all those facilities work well to end your child’s tantrum temper.
Ending tantrum temper in children needs strategy. Every child needs different approach but you must know what to do best for your children. Here are some techniques that can be effective in general. You can analyze how you stop your children from wild behavior.
You should realize that you are not to buy your toddlers or children things and protect them from life. You must educate your children skills that assist them to achieve success in their life today and tomorrow.
1.      Make a chart of everything that is necessary for your kids. You can range the list from educational needs, toys, clothing, and food. It is important for you to write down the chart so you can choose what the first need.
2.      Empower your children to have great behavior. Shouting and yelling is not effective to stop your children’s anger. You should make negotiation at every problem and case. Teach your children express their feeling intelligently. This work is slow but your will see the result.
3.      Lead your child to discover specific life skill at early age. This helps your children overcome problem by themselves. You can teach your children how to plant a rose or ask them to help you wash your car. This activity will give well-built experience how they live and spend their time. You sometimes can teach your children to cook some spaghetti. Do not worry when your children are dirty with seasoning and vegetable oil.
4.      Don’t get angry with your children when their tantrum arouses. Threatening your children will only create hate in their heart. Your children may be quiet but they do not really accept what you have done to them.
5.      Never hit your children how bad their tantrum is. Hitting children is not prohibited ( my opinion) but your slap works nothing. You only leave your children keep hatred and hurt feeling. Take it easy, negotiate patiently, and offer your children alternatives to their desire. You need patient to face your children’s anger.
As you evaluate this piece of writing, you can have better ideas how to end your children tantrum temper. You are the closest person to your children. You know better about them. As a mom and a dad, you have a full of authority to use your power but you cannot leave and save hatred in your children’s mind. Does grow love and affection better than plant hate in your children’s memory?
